Advertisement...does it really work??

Pangsapuri Putra Damai has 7 blocks(A,B,C,D,E,F,G)...
As we are located in Block C, as you may have guessed.. our returning customers are mostly from this block. Our strategy is to distribute as many flyers to other blocks as well. So far we had
1) Paid management to post our advertisement at each block. Too bad the advertisement board is only made available at 4 blocks (A to D).
2) Put flyers at the mini market, hoping that it will be distributed by the cashier at the counter
3) Hand out the flyers ourselves. We waited at the blocks and basically hand out the flyers individually. We thought this is the best method so far..but *sigh* very tiring.
4) We put the flyers between car's wipers *grin*. Err..we understand that this is a 50-50 chance that people would bother to read... The sad part was to see our flyers being thrown away..yes it was very disheartening to see the flyers on the grass..

We plan to check out the neighbouring apartments in Presint 10. Definitely we need to execute fast as the daily profit wasn't so promising..

What have we learned for the past 10 days

It was a mixed feelings altogether running the laundry business @Putrajaya. Within 10 days since launching, we have learned tremendously. Apparently, what we have crafted on the business plan were only 20% executed **grin**

Since Putrajaya branch is an apartment based laundry, our main income comes from normal wash. We had a few dry cleanings though, and even a guy sent a leather jacket 2 days back. At first, we thought we would be expecting more dry cleaning clothes, and that's where we expected most of the income will come from. But it happened otherwise.

The other main issue is to keep a good employee around. Our first full time employee left after 6 days of working due to personal reasons. She was a very dedicated employee, hard to get nowadays. Too bad that her mother insisted that she quit this job. We felt that the mother is over protective, too worried that the daughter is over-stessed with work... (err, now you are thinking.. washing and drying..where would the stress comes from??).

We know that we did not do a good job on advertisement, the banners that we put up were not visible from far since we only hooked them up to our shop. FYI, to put up a banner in putrajaya, you need to apply from Perbadanan Putrajaya and pay about 300+ for 3' x 10' banner. You had to provide the banner design before hand. The worst part is that the banner can only be placed at the designated location. If you have been around putrajaya, u will understand what i mean. You can't simply hang a banner at the lamp post, or between trees, it had to be that limited - official banner placement spots... **sigh**

Have i said enuf? nope...we have more to share...till then.

The day to remember. We are launching the laundry shop today!

Did we say february earlier on? Naah...it turned out that it wasn't as easy as we wish it would be.

Okay as we go through the hurdle, we finally proud to say that "Hey, we are in your vicinity, please come and drop us some business :)!

There would be more interesting stories to tell, among others the reason of such delay. It is just too lenghty to describe, but definitely a good sharing to tell. Till then, got to assist my partner who is nearly dozzing off waiting for our first customer!!
